TrailBlazer Relay is a Microsoft Project add-in published by TrailBlazer Consulting, LLC. Licenses for it are sold by TrailBlazer Learning Academy, Inc. (“Academy”), a separate business outsourcing support to TrailBlazer Consulting, LLC. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean whichever of those two is handling your information for the purpose being described; both handle it under this policy.
This policy explains how we handle information in two separate places:
- The add-in on your computer, which reads your project plan and builds Outlook invitations. It works locally and sends us none of that content.
- Buying and activating a license, which does involve a small amount of information about you as a customer.
We keep these separate on purpose, and describe each below.
This policy covers the TrailBlazer Relay product and the purchase of a Relay license from the Academy website (trailblazerlearningacademy.com). General browsing of that website is covered by the privacy policy published there.
What the add-in accesses on your computer
When you use TrailBlazer Relay inside Microsoft Project, it reads the tasks, dates, and assigned-resource email addresses in the project plan you have open, so it can build Outlook meeting invitations. When you choose to create invitations, it uses your locally installed, signed-in Microsoft Outlook to open those invitations as drafts for your review. All of this processing happens locally on your device.
The add-in also stores your settings, and your license status if you have one, in a small file in your Windows user profile. That file stays on your computer.
What the add-in never sends us
TrailBlazer Relay does not:
- send email on your behalf — every invitation opens as a draft that you review and send yourself;
- transmit your project plans, tasks, schedules, contacts, or recipient email addresses to TrailBlazer or to anyone else;
- include advertising, analytics, telemetry, or third-party tracking;
- collect your name, location, or any personal profile from your computer.
We do not operate any server that receives your project data. Your plan content never leaves your computer.
License activation and periodic checks
TrailBlazer Relay is free to try in full for 7 days. After that, creating invitations requires a license; the rest of the add-in stays free to use.
If you activate a license, the add-in contacts the licensing service — operated by TrailBlazer Learning Academy, which issues the licenses — to confirm the key is valid. Each check sends only:
- the license key you entered;
- a device fingerprint — a one-way (irreversible) hash derived from your Windows installation identifier. It lets us enforce how many machines a license covers. It cannot be reversed to identify your device, and it tells us nothing about you, your employer, or your files;
- the version of TrailBlazer Relay you are running.
No project, task, recipient, or contact data is ever sent during activation, and the license key is not used to track how or when you use the product.
So that a revoked or refunded license stops working, the add-in repeats this same check about every two weeks while you are online. If you are offline it keeps working normally for several weeks before asking again. These checks send nothing beyond the three items listed above.
If you buy a license
Licenses are sold by TrailBlazer Learning Academy, which is responsible for the customer information described in this section.
Payment is processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never reach the Academy or TrailBlazer Consulting, LLC — neither of us can see your full card number. Stripe collects your billing address for tax purposes under its own privacy policy.
When a purchase completes, the Academy creates a customer record containing:
- your email address, so we can send you your license key and support you;
- the license key issued to you, the license type (single seat or company/site), and whether it is active;
- Stripe transaction identifiers linking the license to your purchase, so we can verify and refund it;
- the device fingerprints that have activated the license, with the dates first and last seen, to enforce the machine limit.
This record is used only to deliver your license, enforce its terms, provide support, and meet tax and accounting obligations. It is not used for marketing unless you separately ask us to.
When you contact support at the address below, you are reaching TrailBlazer Consulting, LLC, which publishes the software. To answer a question about your license it may need to see your license and purchase details from the Academy. That is the only routine flow of your information between the two businesses, and it happens only to support you.
Service providers
The Academy uses these providers to run the licensing side of the product, and shares your information with them only for that purpose:
- Stripe — payment processing and sales tax.
- Supabase — hosting for the license database and for the activation service the add-in contacts.
These providers are bound by their own privacy and security obligations. They are not authorized to use your information for their own purposes.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if we are legally required to, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
How long we keep information
We keep license and activation records for as long as the license remains valid, so it keeps working and we can support it. Records connected to a purchase are retained afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Device fingerprints tied to a license are deleted when the license record is deleted.
Security
License data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored in the Academy’s licensing database, with access restricted to the people who run these two businesses. No system is perfectly secure, but because we deliberately never receive your project data, a breach of either business could not expose your plans, schedules, or recipients.
Your choices and rights
You may ask to access, correct, or delete the customer information held about you, or to be told what is held. Email the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time; requests are actioned with the Academy, which holds the license records. Deleting your license record will deactivate the license, so we will confirm with you before doing so. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we honor those rights regardless of location.
Children’s privacy
TrailBlazer Relay is a professional tool intended for business use. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “last updated” date.
